I must say, chilemwa harriet nkowane is fine, beauty with brains
anyways the brain drain thing is not surprising, as much as kennedy said that 'ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country,'the fact is at one point, we will still ask,'what can my country do for me,' we are human ,we gotta eat, how can you be a successful humanitarian if you don't eat, so i don't blame the doctors for migrating, studying medicine for 7 years and get peanuts, i know some will say its a calling but hey, medicine is not tough for nothing, we need to feel like we are reaping what we sow.....so government has to do something to retain and maintain this braindrain, unfortunately, they do not care and i won't go into details ranting about government, enough has been said about them.
When there is a problem ,solve it, brain drain is the problem? somebody should solve it _________________

I agree with you!!
But do you know where the problem is,...?
Even when your conutry does something for you, most Zambians won't do anything for their country!!
The so called good ol' days when things where lakker, and it was all good, and your country spoilt everyone like brats, and then when things changed, no one wants to work for the country that treated them so good!
We are lazy! |

I also need to put my info up there
I think both of you are right! It goes both ways, yes I think there is a problem with the work mentality in general in Zed but there's also a problem with acknowledgement of what people do by the government e.g salaries. If surviving is difficult and another country IS willing to offer me what I deserve why should I stay? Why suffer when there is no need to?
Then again while there are a lot of people working their butts off the majority would rather live on hand outs.
So guys what's the solution? |

In addition to that, we are not as proud of our country as we say we are,or should i say, not everybody is proud of their country...

Its the'animal ' in man, The Holy Bible has a classic verse for this' do unto others as you would want them to do unto you'....If only, alot of us applied this concept, it would be all good

The zambian government should include staff retention in its strategic plans and this should not only be one of the priorities, but should be implemented as well........like matero boys say' deeds not words'.. _________________

We need to have the pride...... So that we ever you go we can identify ourselves with Zambia. I for one believe that in this time and age you can contribute positively to your country even when you are not resident there. But then people need to be willing to contribute.... Remember the times when our parents would send fertilizer n staff back to their villages????? In the same fashion people living outside Zambia should
1) Send ideas and investments back home
2) Be given the platform to do as in point no.1 _________________ I dreamnt i was dreaming that am dreaming |

Sorry to say this...
But Government can only do so much currently...And please, when i say Govt., i'm not referring to only the president, i'm talking about the whole system!
You know, the country is in a hole right now, that the best it can do is climb out of that hole then look to building extra things for the people, than to start spending on issues that can be deferred...!
The problem is that we have people who want to have those things now! I'm afraid the real benefits of those things will be your children's children!
You have to start helping in the rebuilding of Zambia! |
